About LDAC Scholarship
The Lawrenceville-Duluth Alumni Chapter (LDAC) of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, in conjunction with the LDAC Foundation, will award at least $10,000 in scholarships this year to eligible African American males in Gwinnett County Public Schools. At a minimum, the scholarships will be awarded as follows, with other possibilities depending on our fundraising efforts:

One $10,000 Scholarship (initial payment of $2,500 once college acceptance letter is submitted; then paid in increments of $2,500 per year as long as remain enrolled full time, a 2.5 GPA is maintained, and collegiate transcripts submitted)

It is our hope to also award several one-time $1,000 scholarships

MISSION STATEMENT: Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. continues the tradition of assisting African- American Male students in the area of education and building strong values and leadership in the community. The fraternity will award one $10,000 scholarship (paid over 4 years) to high school seniors who reside in or attend a school in Gwinnett County and plans to pursue post-secondary education.

In order to be eligible for one of the aforementioned scholarships, you must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher, submit an application, a scanned copy of the official high school transcript, one letter of recommendation, and a brief essay highlighting extracurricular/work activities and any honors and awards received, career aspirations, and how the scholarship will be used to meet a financial need to supplement your college expenses.

Requirements

___Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale.
___Must submit a scanned official copy of high school transcript (or copy of your most recent grade report and official transcript must be presented later to receive scholarship funds).
___Must submit one letter of recommendation from a counselor, teacher, pastor, employer or community leader (Non-Relative). The letter should not exceed one page in length, highlighting character, leadership and scholastic achievements/potential, and aspirations.
___Must submit a one-page (2 pages maximum), double-spaced essay that includes the following: 1. Extracurricular and work activities you are/were involved in during high school.
2. Professional/career goals and explain how the program/degree you are studying will help you achieve these goals. Explain why you chose this program.
3. Explain how the LDAC Scholarship will meet a financial need to supplement your education.
